| The
Trams |
|
|
When I first visited
Hong Kong's bookstores in late 1980s, looking for
books about Hong Kong, I could only find pictorials
showing night views from the Peak, signboards and
neon lights jutting out into roads, vortex joss
sticks of Man Mo temple. A sense of inconsistency
prompted my personal beginning of The Trams. You
will not find any notable sights or brand-shopping
places in this book. However, the scenes along the
tramway are unique to Hong Kong. Whether you have
been there, or are planning to go there, you will
find in this book an aspect of Hong Kong that cannot
be seen anywhere else in the world.
This book is a
recompiled edition of "The Trams"(1994)
with a lot of new works and Preface by Mr. Leung
Ping-Kwan and Commentary by Ms. Law Tsin Fung,
Angela.

The Weight of Heaven |
|
|
Do you have the
experience of sight images appearing incoherently
in your mind after visiting Asian countries? In
my case, such images always multiply in my mind
and sometimes I wonder if I am living in those images
or in real life…
This book is trying to present a story of such disappearing
views. The story, if described in words, will collapse
in sheds easily. The paintings in the book will
reveal (bring out) some deep images in your memory,
and when you turn the pages, "wordless"
moments will come to you, I hope.
